Join us for NIM's 23rd Annual Assembly - June 7, 2012!
"Kasserian Ingera: How Are the Children?"
It has been a decade since NIM recognized the work of congregational youth in creating a better Northwest Philadelphia community at our 13th Annual Assembly. This year, we again honor those youth (or individuals who work with youth) who are making a positive impact in this lives of others. We may also be visited by honorees from 2002 - come find out what they are doing today!
The keynote speaker at this year’s Assembly is E.B. Lewis, the renowned illustrator whose artwork has inspired children and adults alike. Mr. Lewis, a graduate of Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, has illustrated over 50 children’s books, including Fire on the Mountain, I Love My Hair, and The Bat Boy and His Violin. His Talkin' About Bessie, a book about the first licensed African-American pilot Elizabeth Coleman, won the Coretta Scott King Award in 2003. NIM has recently named two “Reading Corners” in Mt. Airy and West Philadelphia, for Mr. Lewis, to encourage reading and improve literacy rates among young children.
The Annual Assembly will be held on Thursday, June 7, from 7-9 PM at Germantown Jewish Centre, 400 W. Ellet St., Philadelphia. Tickets are $25 - to reserve your space now, click here.
