Interfaith Collaboration

NIM represents an alliance of over 50 member congregations and religious institutions, all of which have united in an effort to collaborate on important issues in the larger community. We embrace diversity and set aside differences in order to address real societal difficulties.

Programs include:

• Sustaining Creation – NIM’s Environmental Initiative brings together member congregations committed environmental justice issues. Together we help promote these programs, develop new ones, and support each other in this challenging work for the Earth.

• NIM’s Dialogue for Racial Justice brings people together through intimate groups and community events to face the issues of racial prejudice and injustice that still challenge us today, nearly 50 years after the height of the Civil Rights Movement.

• The Martin Luther King Interfaith Celebration has brought the community together annually since 1983 to continue the work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. On the Sunday prior to MLK Day, we hold this event to identify current social and moral issues that need our collective attention.

• NIM’s Annual Assembly each spring awards a religious leader with the Rev. Richard R. Fernandez Religious Leadership Award and provides an opportunity for NIM member congregations to honor individuals whose work improves the lives of people in our diverse community.
